The Staff of the High Commission of Sri Lanka in the United Kingdom formally commenced work on Monday, 01 January 2024 with a simple ceremony held at the High Commission. Following the singing of the National Anthem by the High Commission staff, the High Commissioner and staff affirmed the Oath of Public Servants.

H.E. Rohitha Bogollagama, the High Commissioner conveyed New Year Greetings to the Staff and the Sri Lankan Community in the United Kingdom on behalf of the Government of Sri Lanka and on his personal behalf. In his remarks, the High Commissioner thanked all staff members for their dedication to achieving the objectives of the High Commission during the past year and stressed the importance of the Mission officials fulfilling their duties with commitment for the benefit of the Sri Lankan community at large, including British Sri Lankans.

The High Commissioner attended the Paritta chanting event in the evening at the London Buddhist Vihara which was held in a bid to bestow blessings for the upcoming year.
