UK Sri Lankan Golfing Society (SLGS) 2022 Spring Meeting

What a great golf day it was!! Following few disruptive golfing years and a pretty wet therefore half way through abandoned competition last year – SLGS’ 27th year spring meeting held on Monday 13th June 2022 - a glorious spring day - at Letchworth Golf Club was a very enjoyable one indeed – judging by the remarks and feedback messages received.

Of course, huge thanks to those attended, very special thanks to the four non-golfing ladies and to the six member’s guests. Captain Bernard PEREIRA sent his apologies for not being able to attend – too much of a journey to make from sunny Florida!

Altogether there were twenty-four attendees, made up by twenty golfers – sixteen members plus six guests, and four non-golfing ladies – Mrs. Swarna ATHAUDA, Mrs, Chitra GAMINIRATNA, Mrs. Seetha HETTIARACHI and Mrs Dayanthi SAMARASINGHE.

Letchworth Golf Club established in 1905, a truly delightful parkland course with some tricky holes is set in beautiful undulating countryside offered a perfect challenge to our members and their guests.

With a very warm welcome from by LGC staff the day started with a bacon / egg / cheese roll and a cup of coffee.

SLGS Spring competition for the SOS Trophy – five, 4 ball flights starting from the 10th tee - individual stableford competition played over 18 holes. Weaved within the stableford competition was a yellow ball competition – to be teed-off in turns.

A delightful three course late lunch was served at 15:15 Hrs; and the day ended with a cup of coffee and the prize giving – presented by guest John BATCHELOR – vice captain Old Fold Manor Golf Club.
