1000 Pulse Oximeters to Sri Lanka from Medical & Dental Association in the UK (SLMDA-U.K.)
Ceylon college of Physicians receives 1000 pulse oximeters (each Pulse Oximeter costs £10) from Sri Lankan medical & Dental Association in the UK(SLMDA-U.K.) within less than 2 weeks of their appeal for help! More aid is in the pipe line. SLMDA will stand shoulder to shoulder with their colleagues in Sri Lanka to fight the Covid catastrophe.
Sri Lanka Medical and Dental Association is a non-political, non-racial organization respecting equality and diversity without any religious affiliations. It was founded in 1982 with a membership of Sri Lankan doctors & dentists exceeding 400 at present. The main aim of the SLMDA is to assist undergraduate medical & dental education in Sri Lanka. However the constitution has recently been extended to support humanitarian causes of exceptional significance to Sri Lanka.
Your blood oxygen level is a measure of how much oxygen your red blood cells are carrying. Your body closely regulates your blood oxygen level. Maintaining the precise balance of oxygen-saturated blood is vital to your health.
A pulse oximeter (pulse ox) is a noninvasive device that estimates the amount of oxygen in your blood. It does so by sending infrared light into capillaries in your finger, toe, or earlobe. Then it measures how much light is reflected off the gases. Pulse oximetry can be used to detect early deterioration of patients with COVID-19.
