Kathina Robe Offering Ceremony of Cambridge Buddhist Vihara
The first Kathina Robe Offering Ceremony of the newly established Cambridge Buddhist Vihara was held on the the 17th of November 2018. The ceremony was organized by the resident monk Venerable Mathugama Palitha Thero under the guidance of Venerable Kamburawala Shri Rewatha Thero, who is the Chief Sangha Nayaka of Great Britain and the abbot of the Scotland's Buddhist Vihara, Glasgow. Fifteen members of the Maha Sangha from various parts of the UK participated. The ceremony started with Pancha Sila given by Venerable Dediyawala Wimala Thero from Letchworth Buddhist Vihara. The Buddha Puja was led by Venerable Vilegoda Kavindurathana Thero and the meal offering ceremony was led by Venerable Thawalama Bandula Thero from London Buddhist Vihara. Venerable Kamburawala Shri Rewatha Thero gave a Dhamma Talk about the importance and spiritual benefits of a Kathina ceremony and Venerable Vitharandeniye Nanda Thero visiting from Bodhi Buddhist Centre, Kirulapana, Sri Lanka also gave a Dhamma talk. A large number of lay supporters of Cambridge Buddhist Vihara were present, and they gave a lot of help to make this event a success. This years' Kathina ceremony was sponsored by Lushan and Ishani de Soyza, Thusitha Sampath, Nuwani Edirisinghe, Mark and Purnima Davidson, Prasanga and Kalhari Samaraweera, Amith and Kanthi Warnapura, and Rohan and Kanthi Perera.
