Kathina Celebrations at Sri Saddhatissa International Buddhist Centre

The VAS ARADHANA for the 3 month rainy day retreat for the resident monks of the Sri Saddhatissa International Buddhist Centre took place on 27 July 2018. The main sponsors were Mr and Mrs Wajira Liyanage and family . During the VAS period a programme of Nava Arahadi Budu Guna Pujavas and a DHAMMA TALK were organised by the Dayaka Sabha every Sunday at 6.30 PM followed by a DANSALA. Among those who delivered Dhamma Talks were Ven(Dr) Deegalle Mahinda Thero of the Bath Spa University in Bristol; Ven. Uduwe Dhammaloka tTro from Sri Lanka; Ven.Nakiyadeniye Gnanuttara Thero from Sri Lanka:Ven Viharagala Kusala Thero ; Ven. Thissapura Sugathawansa Thero ; Ven. Madugalle Mahanama Thero ; Ven. Kovinda Thero of Canada; Ven. Ven. Nepale Sumana Thero; Ven. Nepale Tissa Thero and Ven.Galayaye Dhammadassi Thero. All the Nava Arahadi Pujavas were live on face book. Ven. Nakiyadeniye Gnanuttara Nayaka Thero’s Temple, The Vijayananda Vihare in Galle is of historical importance as it is the first Temple that Henry Steel Olcott visited in this country in May 1880.( Anagarika Dharmapala )

The Katina Ceremonies took place on Saturday 10th and Sunday 11th November 2018. The ASUMAHA SRAVAKA PUJAVA took place from 6.30 PM on Saturday 10 November.

The KATHINA CHIVARA PUJAVA (the offering of the Kathina Robe took place at 3.30 PM on Sunday 11th November 2018. THE Kathina Robe was ceremonially brought in a colourful procession to the SSIBC at 6.AM. Aggamahapandita Ven. Galayaye Piyadassi Sangha Nayaka Thero had arranged a full programme for this day as some devotees had also observed SIL. The Kathina Chivara Pujava took place at 3.30 pm. The Kathina Robe was unanimously presented to Ven. Galayaye Piyqadassi Sangha Nayaka Thero
