Vesak Programme at Mahamevnawa International Meditation Centre UK

Press Release

On the 27th of May 2018, devotees from all around the United Kingdom accumulated immense merits by participating in a day-long event organised by the Mahamevnawa International Meditation Centre to commemorate the Themagula of Gautama Buddha at the Wat Tyler Centre in Basildon, Essex.

Under the guidance of venerable Sanga many devotees observed the Noble eight precepts and spent the entire day participating in various meritorious deeds.

They venerated the Blessed One with various offerings, broadened their knowledge of Dhamma by listening to sermons, practiced mindfulness through meditation and chanted the noble The Nobel Satipatṭhāna Sutta in its entirety. A separate Dhamma programme was organised for children who observed the Noble eight precepts as well. In addition, a motion picture portraying the life of Gautama Buddha was also screened at the event. Copies of the Maha Satipatṭhāna Sutta were offered as Dhamma Dana to participants.

In the evening, colourful Vesak lanterns including a rotating lantern were displayed at the Mahamevnawa International Meditation Centre premises. A coffee Dansela was held at the premises as well.

May everyone share the merits gained by these great deeds! May everyone be happy! May everyone attain the bliss of Nibbana in this Gautama Buddha dispensation!
