The 13th annual general meeting of Deaf and Blind Aid Lanka (UK registered charity 1123487)

The 13th annual general meeting of Deaf and Blind Aid Lanka (UK registered charity 1123487) was held at the Royal National Institute for the Blind (RNIB), Jdd Street, London in the presence of the charity's patron Lord Colin Low and the Acting High Commissioner Mr S Gunarantne on Saturday the 12 th May 2018.

The distinguished guests, members and supporters enjoyed the light musical entertainment on the piano provided by Enrico Allata and James Yorke. A Sri Lankan lunch was served prior to the meeting, which was enjoyed by all.

Sarath Weerasinghe announced the proceedings by observing a two minute silence in memory of the late Priya Welikala, who was a founder member and treasurer of the charity and Sherwin Willatgamuwa, a long standing member of the charity. This was followed by the Chairperson's Report for 2017/2018 by Ameera Hussain who announced the visit of the patron Lord and Lady Low's to Sri Lanka in September 2018. Afterwrds the treasurer John Yorke presented his report for 2017/2018, and the new office bearers were accepte & elected.

Several well thought out proposals with regard to future fund raising events were then put forward by various DABAL members. After, the annual spring raffle followed> The relaxed and convivial afternoon ended with the chairpersons treat with cake and coffee for all.

The following were elected as new office bearers for 2018/2019:- Chairperson - Ameera Hussain Vice Chairperson -Charmaine Jayasuriya Hon. Secretary -Angeline Kanagasooriam Hon. Treasurer -John Yorke Membership / Events Secretary - Nadani Welikala Web Master - Lionel Bandara Publicist - Nimal Navaratne Committee Members - Beulah Mendis, Feisal Hussain, Dropathi Pillai, Chris Seelanatha and Lakshman Kanagasooriam
